QWAK,RAT WAR!!

QWAK,Wile the dog and I had fresh home made BREAD the RATS had "Thanks Giving" too. As I aproched my DUCK POND this morning, to remove the lid and get in, I noticed somthing had CHANGED :hahaha::452::favorites21: The 2 foot red RUBBER TREE was GONE:thinkey: just the NUBS of stems that the day befor were so healthy and had out grown the 2 gal. bucket they were growin in!

HAD to be the RATS and I had seen a big one out there around 2 am when I went out to relieve my self.

As far as I know the milkey white sap is POISENOUS?:questionm aparently NOT for RATS! :thinkey::wink:

I had just two days befor killed a RAT in the cabin -- it was a highly inteligent PEST and I had been trying to get it for over a MONTH -- it was steeling the dogs FOOD and was SOoooooooo brasin and GREEDY that it had started taking the food DISH and ALL -- I am NOT JOCKING!

I had 4 GLUE traps out,3 "tom Cat" new type traps and one old fassioned but up dated plastic spring trap I baited with peanut butter -- that one finely go it!

It was actualy jumping over the glue traps and sort of made a little RAT sound like it was LAUGHING as it did -- REALY it seemed that way to me.:s10:

Any way I finely got that RAT and this morning my RUBBER TREE is GONE -- not only did they knaw it off to a stub but they draged off every single leaf so I can not CLONE a new one!:36_1_28:

I get in my pond and begin to PONDER a bit then BURST out LAUGHING!:111::cry1::111: I always try to PROJECT my thinking so I can SEE from the perspective of other inteligent life forms and OBVIOUSLY thease RATS are INTELIGENT creatures! SOooooooooo I ask my self IF perhaps they are COMUNICATING with me?:questionm:dontknow: "PAY BACK" for killing the other RAT?:questionm:thinkey: Are RATS capable of THAT?

Then I got this CRAZY FUNNEY thought:stupid::laugh: -- IF I were a RAT -what would I do with a RUBBER TREE that was not etable but did have usefull properties?:questionm and it HIT ME -- WATER PROOFING:thinkey::yes: I had just finished building my rubber coated roof and perhaps the RATS were doing somthing SIMILAR.:thinkey::shine:

Then I thought VULCONISED RUBBER BOATS:wink::4_1_72: --- the RATS know there is a FLOOD coming and are PREPARING-- when there world turns up side down and the flood hits them there little RAT houses will turn in to little RAT BOATS and they will SURVIVE!:hahaha::111::4_1_72::15_1_70v:

I am laughing at thinking that the RATS are COMUNICATING but just the same I talk to the DOG and DID talk to Thomas the CAT till he died.:shine::yes:

Even IF they ARE comunicating -- geting a NEW CAT as soon as I can!:111::4_1_72::yes::shine::s1:

I would rater TALK to a CAT than a RAT -- but that is just MY personal preferance and then TOO -- I am a DUCK!:shine:

I talk to cats, dogs and domestic birds. But thats about it for non-human life.

Your imagination is certainly more 'fluid' than the average joe. And I don't mean that in a negative way.

I used to have two pet rats. They were some of the best pets I ever had. Smart too, a little too smart. Certainly smarter than my daschunds is. I swear that things brain is in its ass......

A freind of mine was renting a run down house. She had a baby and the bottles kept on going missing from his crib. It took awhile but she finally saw the rat in action. It was getting the bottles from the baby crib and taking them into the crawl space. Creepy!

QWAK,woodman,The original cabin was SOROUNDED by BLACK WALNUT TREES and then Hickory nut trees -- the RATS were here long befor I came and even befor the CABIN was built! I concider the black walnut trees like LIVING GOLD:s1::yes: the rats are welcome to the NUTS but NOT to live in my HOME !:shine:

One year I came down here and the rats had emptied bags of dry dog food and filled to the top an 8' roll of carpet that was leaning on an angle so part of the hole in the middle was exposed at the bottom. IT was set up as a SILOW they could get food out the bottom thanks to GRAVITY!:thinkey:

No question in my mind that RATS are INTELIGENT --- it is amasing what they can do!:shine:

They are smart. My son had a pet one that he was quite fond of. It got so old it lost most of it's hair. I also have black walnuts lining my property. The nuts are tasty but hell to crack. The wood is very expensive. Wish I had hickories here. I had them where I grew up but they don't grow as far north as I am now. Speaking of rats, my home was paradise for the squirrels (long haired rats) before I moved in. Every time I do any renovating, nuts keep falling out of the ceiling onto my head.

I used to have pet rats. Super smart little critters! They learn to recognize their humans and like to play like puppies. It sounds like your rats have harnessed their considerable intellectual capabilities and turned them to diabolical purposes.

Having said that, we have also had invasions of rats from outer space (well, outside our space), thanks to construction going on around here and woods being cleared. Those electronic rat zappers (the ones that the rat crawls inside and gets electrocuted in) seem to work the best at rodent depopulation. Keep the batteries fresh so you kill them fast. Make sure your kitties or other small animals can't get into it. (If you have an engineer-type guy in your family, make sure he can't get into it, either... )

Most cats aren't effective against rats. Try a Jack Russel Terrier or an American Rat Terrier. I'm not sure if the last one is named right but they're little bug eyed dogs that will work themselves to death killing rats.

Excellent! Rats have really lousy eyesight. You should be able to sneak right up on the little b@st@ards, then ZAP their furry little asses!!!! I used to sneak up on our rat invaders and yank their tails. It's juvenile, but I couldn't resist. My rat-phobic husband would always say, "When you get your arm gnawed off, don't come crying to me!" Never even got bitten, let alone savagely disarmed.

Re: QWAK,RAT WAR!!

I concur with your baiting experience. Rats and mice go nuts for peanut butter. They also have to mooch about while trying to lick it off the trap as they can't take it with them, which usually results in killing them. Cheese is so hit and miss by comparison it's not funny, if you must use cheese, use as little as possible or they escape with a feast.

I bumped off about 4-5 mice using standard traps and peanut butter, set the trap to the usual ridiculous hair-trigger level. All clean kills so they didn't suffer.

QWAK,The RAT WAR continued yesterday!:s10: Went to turn on a small high intencity light and it did not come on so I checked to see that the bulb was OK -- and it was -- then I checked to see if it was pluged in and when I reached under the counter to check the plug -- I KNEW it was pluged in for SHURE!!!:s10::favorites21::yes:

A RAT boobie traped my LAMP :s10::favorites21::36_1_30: chewed the wire and left it FRAIED so when I touched IT --I got ZAPED with 110 VOLTS!:censored::4_1_72:

I tell YOU them RATS are INTELIGENT and they FIGHT BACK!:shine::4_1_72: I diden't even get to use my "BLASTER KNUCKELS" -- they got ME first!!

I made a WEAPONS DEAL-- traided a paint ball gun, rifel and ammo for a CAT!:shine::s1::111::4_1_72:

IF it is WAR they WANT -- IT is WAR they will GET -- and the CAT don't take NO PRISNORS:Surrender: -- she EATS THEM!:4_1_72::shine::sleepy13:

She is a nice quiet mama cat -- and was scared of the new place to live so hid at first. A can of TUNA and dish of MILK calmed her down and now SHE is under the stairs to the second floor -- right behind the water pressure tank by the hole in the floor ware the pipe comes in and the RAT I killed was coming in too!:yes::shine:

I am going to call her -- CAT--TRENA!:shine::111::4_1_72::shine:
